Terrorists Threaten the Symbol of Paris

France has recalled the threat of terrorism. The motive might have been taken from a blockbuster. Special services have tapped the message according to which terrorists were going to explode… the Eiffel Tower.

Who is the source of the radio massage saying about the threat of a terrorist act in Paris, including the Eiffel Tower, Elysian Fields and the business district of the capital? French and Portuguese services have been trying to answer this question for the second day.

Short radio signals tapped by radio operators of the island of Santa Maria on Thursday were unclear and fuzzy. However, vigilant Portuguese aviators without delay reported about them first to Portuguese and then to the French special services.

This message followed a series of other threats directed against France and spread on Internet sites and forums by various Islamic groups. They urge their brothers to strike blows to Paris.

In particular, French special services are thoroughly studying materials from the site Al Ihlas. It is used by Islamic terrorists, as well as by religious fanatics from all over the world for publication of their messages, in most cases encoded.

However that may be, having studied data from this very source, the French specialists reported that "Al-Qaeda" was preparing a terrorist act in Paris, in particular the murder of the capital's Mayor. Later this information was confirmed by the American specialized centre for tracking the group's activity.

Terrorists do not conceal that the aim of these acts is to undermine positions of the president Nicola Sarkozy. Taking into account all these facts, this week a group of representatives of the French special services went on a journey to the Maghreb countries to establish a more close collaboration, as well as intensify combating terrorism.

The French special services also beware of terrorist acts against Frenchmen who are staying abroad. Thus, for example, today's issues of newspapers "Le Figaro" and "Le Monde" recall events in Mauritania when the death of four Frenchman had led to unpredictable consequences. In particular, traditional automobile rally "Dakar" was canceled.

We cannot forget about the two bloody terrorist acts in Algeria, committed by "Al-Qaeda" in the end of the last year. At that time we first learnt that next terrorist attacks, this time directed against France, are being trained on Algeria.

As regards the Portuguese radio tap, special services do not exclude that the message have been transmitted deliberately with a view to spread panic.

Therefore authorities urge local population and tourists to stay calm, especially since the so called level of anti-terrorist safety has been staying at its highest red grade during the whole last year.

According to one of the local newspapers, if you see a military or a police patrol by the Eiffel Tower, you should not get frightened and go to another side of the street, since it is meant for your safety. These are harsh after-holiday weekdays in France.

Well, the terrorism has become a real problem for the modern society and there are already ratings of the most dangerous countries of the world being composed so that the tourists planning his trips will be informed about the dangers he should face in one or another country.
