Change has invariably been a factor in stress management and being competent to manage with the tension that comes with those changes. Change, in whatever form, can be met in one of two fashions - either it is welcomed or it is unwelcome. People are ever scared of change that goes on in their lives and perhaps that is why some individuals become stressed by it. Perhaps it is the unforeseen that can stress people out whenever change goes on in their lives and why there are so many different ways that Individuals respond to change when it happens.
The most common response to change is shock and surprise, so when confronted by unexpected circumstances such as accidents or other chance events, surprise appears to be the first response for many. Such states of affairs make people realize that particular plans they have considered in life can frequently have some unexpected results. The realisation that little in life is lasting can be a source of stress for some Individuals as change may turn out as a complete surprise. Often people respond to change with self-denial and refuse to acknowledge it.

Some Individuals will attempt to bring out certain values in order to reinforce that change is not required but this may be an alternative reaction after the surprise and shock phase. At times, Individuals move from surprise, and sometimes denial, to a logical apprehension of change and may observe that change is really needed in certain situations because there are grounds why it goes on. Through this, Individuals begin to learn how to find ways on how to manage with the problem. Nevertheless, at this point Individuals may still not be prepared to have change affect their conduct but rather find some means to amend the situation instead. Change can sometimes lead Individuals to respond in two assorted ways. At a certain point, the state of affairs may get to a level where it grows into a crisis and when this point is reached, people may either swallow it or avoid it altogether.
When people learn to accept change, no matter how embarrassing, they are no longer impacted by the tension that arrives with it as much as those that might want to avoid or discount it.
